This is the core promise of competency-based education, or CBE—and it has been quietly transforming K-12 schools across the United States for over two decades. But does it actually work? A comprehensive 2020 systematic review by Carla M. Evans, Erika Landl, and Jeri Thompson, published in The Journal of Competency-Based Education, takes a rigorous look at twenty years of K-12 CBE research to find out.
What Is Competency-Based Education?
